Volt theme guide

Volt is a dark-mode-native theme for electronics, audio and gaming brands that launch, drop and sell out: countdowns, spec comparisons and a sticky buy box built for hype cycles.

Version 1.0.0

Installation

  1. Upload the zip: Online Store → Themes → Add theme → Upload zip file.
  2. Click Customize. Set your logo and favicon under Theme settings → Logo.
  3. Set menus: the header uses your Main menu and the footer uses the Footer menu (Content → Menus in Shopify admin).
  4. Walk the homepage sections top to bottom. Every block of demo copy can be replaced from the editor sidebar.
  5. Preview on mobile with the editor's device toggle, then Publish.

Theme settings

Open the theme editor (Customize) → Theme settings.

  1. Presets: Midnight, Carbon and Daylight (light mode). Switch styles from Theme settings in the theme editor; your content stays.
  2. Typography: headings default to Space Grotesk and body text to Inter.
  3. Header: choose which menu link is your drops link in the header section settings.
  4. Colors: Theme settings → Colors. Colors are organized as schemes, and every section has a scheme picker, so you restyle the whole store by editing schemes rather than section by section.
  5. Fonts come from Shopify's font library and load with font-display: swap. Change them under Theme settings → Typography.
  6. Search: turn predictive search on or off, and choose whether results show vendor and price.
  7. Cart: choose a drawer or a cart page, show or hide the order note, and set the free-shipping progress bar and its threshold.

Product pages

  1. The product template comes preconfigured: vendor and SKU, title, spec chips, drop countdown, price, variant picker, quantity selector, buy buttons, pickup availability, description, feature, spec table, shipping tab, share and complementary products.
  2. The buy box is sticky. Turn stickiness off in the product section settings.
  3. Sold-out variants show a notify-me state. Turn it off in the buy buttons block.
  4. Reorder, remove or add blocks in the product section. App blocks from installed apps appear in the block list.
  5. Variant options render automatically. Color swatches use Shopify's native swatch values on your options.
  6. Subscriptions: install any selling-plan app and the plan picker appears on products with selling plans.
  7. Gift cards: the recipient form (send to a friend with a message) appears on gift card products.
  8. Local pickup: enable pickup locations in Shopify settings and availability shows under the buy buttons.

Collections and filtering

  1. On desktop, filters open as dropdown panels in the toolbar. On mobile they open in a filter and sort drawer.
  2. Filters come from Shopify's free Search & Discovery app. Choose which filters appear under Search & Discovery → Filters.
  3. Sorting, pagination and empty states are built in. Product cards show sale and sold-out badges from your catalog data.

Volt’s own sections

Add these from the theme editor with Add section. They sit alongside the standard sections (slideshow, image banner, image with text, multicolumn, featured collection, featured product, collapsible content, rich text, video, testimonials, blog posts, newsletter, contact form, custom Liquid and apps).

Countdown hero

Drop hero with a live countdown and optional waitlist signup.

Spec compare

This-vs-that comparison table, up to four columns.

Feature scroll

Long-form alternating feature rows with anchor navigation.

Launch calendar

Upcoming drops list with status chips.

Marquee ticker

Scrolling text strip, fully disabled for reduced-motion visitors.

Metafields

Optional product metafields that unlock extra features (Settings → Custom data → Products in Shopify admin):

theme.spec_highlights

Short spec line shown on product cards (for example “60h · ANC · BT5.3”). Create a single-line text product metafield with this namespace and key.

theme.drop_date

Date and time product metafield. When it's in the future, the buy box shows a live countdown.

FAQ

How do I change colors and fonts?

Open the theme editor (Customize) → Theme settings → Colors or Typography. Every section has a color scheme picker, so editing a scheme restyles every section that uses it.

Does the theme work with apps?

Yes. Product pages accept app blocks (Online Store 2.0), so review, subscription and bundle apps drop in from the theme editor without code edits. There's also an Apps section for any page.

How do updates work?

Your license includes one year of updates. When a new version ships, upload the new zip next to your current theme and compare before publishing. Contact support if you'd like help moving your settings across.

What should I include in a support request?

Your store URL, your order number, the theme version (shown on the theme card under Online Store → Themes), what you expected and what happened, and a screenshot if it's visual.
