Review Themes Every Apparel Store Should Track

Apparel reviews repeat themselves. The same few complaints and compliments come up again and again, and each one points to a different fix. A broad label like "quality" hides them: it could mean a split seam, a pilled fabric or a faded colour. This guide lists the themes worth tracking in a clothing store and what each one tells you.

Fit and sizing themes

Fit is usually the largest group of comments in apparel, so break it down. A product that runs small overall needs a size chart note. A product that is tight in one area needs a pattern change.

Fabric and construction themes

These comments tell you about the product itself and are the ones your supplier needs to see.

After-wash themes

Some problems appear after a few washes, so they show up in later reviews. Track them separately. A product with good early reviews and poor later ones often has a durability issue.

Expectation themes

These are listing problems, not product problems. The garment may be fine, but the page set the wrong expectation.

How to use the list

Tag each review with one or two of these themes, and record the variant, because size and colour matter in apparel. Then count by product and by variant. For the tagging method, see how to analyze product reviews.

Doing this at scale

ReviewLens reads the product reviews already in your store, groups them into themes and scores sentiment for each theme. It builds a ranked Fix This Week list with verbatim customer quotes and spotlights your top problem SKUs. See ReviewLens.
