GTIN Validator: Check a UPC, EAN or ISBN Barcode
Paste a GTIN to see whether Google Merchant Center will accept its format: the digit count, the GS1 check digit, and the restricted and coupon prefixes Google doesn't allow.
GTIN-12 (UPC)
Looks valid
- ✓Digits only
- ✓12 digits
- ✓Check digit 5 is correct
- ✓No restricted prefix
- ✓No coupon prefix
A valid format doesn't prove the number belongs to your product. Use the barcode the manufacturer assigned, and give each variant its own.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is stored or sent.
What it checks
Google accepts GTINs with 8, 12, 13 or 14 digits. The last digit is a check digit calculated from the others, so a single typo usually makes it wrong. Numbers starting with 02, 04 or 2 (restricted circulation) or 05, 98 or 99 (coupons) aren't accepted.
What it can't check
A number can pass every format check and still belong to a different product. Use the barcode the manufacturer assigned, give each variant its own, and never make one up. If a product has no GTIN, leave the field empty.
