Your product title is the most important text in Google Shopping. It decides whether you show up for a search, and whether anyone clicks. Here's how to write titles that pass Google's rules and still sell.
What Google allows
Titles can be up to 150 characters. Leave out prices, sale dates, shipping, and your store name. Skip gimmicks too. All caps, symbols, and promotional text like “free shipping” can get flagged.
- Max: 150 characters
- Leave out: Price, sale dates, shipping, store name
- Avoid: ALL CAPS, symbols, “Free shipping”
The first 70 characters matter
Put the most important details first. Shoppers usually notice only the first 70 characters or so, so lead with what the product is, and the attributes people search for, like material, color, and size.
- First: What it is + key attributes
- Then: Secondary details
- Example: Linen Crew Tee, Relaxed Fit, Sage Green
Before and after
Here's the difference. The first title wastes its opening on a promotion. The second tells Google and the shopper exactly what it is.

Doing this at scale
Rewriting hundreds of titles by hand is slow. FeedFix flags titles that break the rules, and drafts compliant rewrites based on your own product data. You review each before and after, and apply in bulk. See FeedFix.
