Shopify Apps for Inventory Forecasting: How to Choose

Inventory forecasting means estimating how much of each product you will sell, so you know when to reorder and how much to buy. This guide covers what to look for in a forecasting app, a handful of options on the Shopify App Store, and when Shopify's own reports are enough. We make StockSense, which is one of the apps below.

What to look for

A forecasting app is worth paying for when it turns sales history into a clear reorder decision. Check these points on each listing before you install.

Apps to consider

Prices below are from each app's listing as of October 2026. Confirm current pricing on the listing before you decide.

AppWhat it does and who it suits

StockSensePer-SKU forecasts, reorder points and draft purchase orders. Suits stores selling through Shopify.
Prediko Inventory ManagementForecasting, purchase orders, transfers and raw materials. Suits growing multi-location brands.
Inventory Management ‑ AssistyInventory tracking and reports, with forecasting on paid plans. Suits stores that want a free starting point.
Inventory Planner by SageForecasting, replenishment and multi-location stock. Suits larger, multi-channel operations.

Shopify inventory reports are part of Shopify's analytics. Shopify's help center lists reports including inventory sold daily by product, days of inventory remaining, products by sell-through rate and ABC product analysis. They describe what has happened and estimate how long stock will last. They do not recommend a reorder quantity or draft a purchase order.

StockSense forecasts per-SKU demand from your order history using velocity, trend, seasonality and lead-time-aware safety stock, then recommends a reorder point, quantity and date and drafts purchase orders grouped by supplier. Plans are Starter at $19 a month, Growth at $49 and Pro at $149, tiered by SKU count. The listing does not mention a free trial. Limitation: it is a newer app with few reviews, and it forecasts from Shopify order history, with no other sales channels feeding the forecast.

Prediko Inventory Management covers demand forecasting, purchase order management, multi-location transfers, raw materials and bills of materials. Plans are tiered by store revenue: Starter at $49 a month, Scale-up at $119 and Growth at $199, each with a 14-day free trial, plus a quoted Enterprise tier. Limitation: the price rises as your revenue grows, whatever your SKU count.

Inventory Management ‑ Assisty has a free Basic plan with inventory tracking, low-stock reports and sales analysis. Demand forecasting starts on the Professional plan at $19 a month, and purchase orders on the Replenishment plan at $39, with both prices varying by Shopify plan and a 14-day free trial on paid plans. Limitation: the free plan does not include forecasting.

Inventory Planner by Sage forecasts demand, automates replenishment and manages multi-location stock, with integrations such as Amazon and QuickBooks. It is free to install and pricing is by quote. Limitation: no prices are published on the listing, so you need to contact the developer to compare cost.
