Improving a product page takes three different kinds of tool: one to find what is weak in the copy, one to watch how shoppers behave, and one to test a change against the original. This guide covers what to look for and some options for each job. We make ConvertLens, which is one of the apps below.
What to look for
No single app does all of this, so start with the question you are trying to answer.
- Copy audit: Whether it checks titles, bullets, specs, images and trust content, and shows evidence for each finding. See our product page checklist.
- Copy drafting: Whether drafts come from your own page content, and whether you approve each change.
- Behavior data: Heatmaps and session recordings that show where shoppers click, scroll and leave.
- Testing: A/B tests that compare a new version with the current one.
- Pricing basis: Per month, per credit, per session or per visitor.
Apps to consider
Prices below are from each app's listing as of October 2026. Confirm current pricing on the listing before you decide.
| App | What it does and who it suits |
|---|---|
| ConvertLens | Scores product pages and drafts rewrites of weak sections. Suits stores with many pages to review. |
| AI Product Description‑ChatGPT | Generates descriptions, titles and SEO metadata in bulk. Suits catalogs with thin or missing copy. |
| Lucky Orange Heatmaps & Replay | Heatmaps, session recordings, funnels and surveys. Suits stores that want to watch shopper behavior. |
| Microsoft Clarity: AI Insights | Free session replays and heatmaps. Suits stores starting with behavior data. |
| Shoplift ‑ CRO & A/B Testing | A/B tests for pages, themes and prices. Suits stores with enough traffic to test. |
ConvertLens scores every product page 0 to 100 against a conversion rulebook covering title clarity, scannability, benefit vs feature balance, images and alt text, specs, trust and urgency. AI drafts before/after rewrites of weak sections from the page's own copy, you approve each change, and changes are logged and reversible. Plans are Starter at $19 a month, Growth at $49 and Pro at $129, with a 14-day free trial listed on Growth and Pro. Limitation: it audits and rewrites copy, with no A/B testing, heatmaps or session recordings.
AI Product Description‑ChatGPT generates product descriptions, titles and SEO metadata in bulk, in more than 30 languages, and can run automatically when new products are added. It has a free plan with 200 credits a month, then Basic at $19, Standard at $49 and Pro at $249. Limitation: usage is metered in credits, so large catalogs need a higher plan or add-on credits.
Lucky Orange Heatmaps & Replay records sessions and builds heatmaps, conversion funnels and visitor surveys. It has a free plan with 100 sessions a month, then Launch at $19, Build at $39 and Grow at $89. Limitation: plans cap monthly sessions, and it shows behavior but does not write copy.
Microsoft Clarity: AI Insights offers session replays, heatmaps and conversion funnels. The listing shows one plan, Free. Limitation: like other behavior tools, it shows you where shoppers struggle and leaves the fix to you.
Shoplift ‑ CRO & A/B Testing runs A/B tests on product pages, landing pages, themes and templates. Plans are Core at $99 a month, Advanced at $399 and Pro at $999, with pricing tied to monthly unique visitors and a 14-day free trial. Limitation: price testing starts on the Advanced plan, and there is no free plan.
How to choose
Match the tool to the stage you are at.
- You suspect the copy is weak but are not sure where: ConvertLens, or audit a page by hand in 10 minutes.
- Many products have no description at all: A bulk generator such as AI Product Description‑ChatGPT, or the text generation built into the Shopify admin. Shopify notes that AI output can contain errors, so review it.
- Pages get traffic but no sales and you do not know why: Start with Microsoft Clarity or Lucky Orange. ConvertLens cannot show you shopper behavior.
- You have a rewrite and want proof it performs: Shoplift. ConvertLens does not run tests.
- A handful of products: Rewrite them yourself using how to write product descriptions that sell.
Doing this at scale
ConvertLens scores every product page 0 to 100 against a conversion rulebook and drafts before/after rewrites of weak sections from the page's own copy. You approve each change, and changes are logged and reversible. See ConvertLens.
