Your products are in Shopify, but they aren't showing up in your Meta catalog, on Facebook, or on Instagram. Usually it's one of a few causes. Here's what causes it and how to fix it.
How the sync works
Shopify's Facebook and Instagram channel syncs your products to a catalog in Meta. Shopify says changes usually reach Facebook within a few minutes. When a product doesn't arrive, it either isn't eligible to sync, or Meta rejected it after it arrived.
- Channel: Syncs products to a Meta catalog
- Timing: Changes usually take a few minutes
- Two sides: Not eligible, or rejected by Meta
What a product needs
Shopify lists what a product needs. It must be available to Facebook. It must require shipping, so digital products don't qualify. It can't be free. And it needs a Google product category, plus a title, description, and image that meet Meta's catalog rules.
- Availability: Available to the Facebook channel
- Shipping: Physical, not digital
- Price: Can't be free
- Data: Category, title, description, image
Check Product status
To see what's wrong, go to Sales channels, then Facebook and Instagram, and check the Product status section. Click a product to see its error. Or open the bulk editor from the Overview page. Its Issues column lists what to fix.
1. Sales channels → Facebook & Instagram
2. Product status → click a product
3. Bulk editor → Issues column
Fix the common errors
Shopify lists three common errors. Add a product image: upload one. Select a product category: choose the Google product category that matches. Fix product variant errors: add details like size and color to each variant. Save, and the product can sync again.
- Add a product image: Upload or select one
- Select a product category: Pick the matching Google category
- Fix product variant errors: Add size and color to each variant
Make products available
If products aren't available to Facebook at all, fix that in bulk. On the Products page, filter availability by unavailable on Facebook. Select the products, choose More actions, then add available channels, and pick Facebook.
1. Products → filter: Unavailable on Facebook
2. Select → More actions
3. Add available channel(s) → Facebook
Keep it syncing
To keep products syncing, check Product status after big catalog changes. Give every new product a Google product category, keep a return policy in place, and keep your copy within Meta's Commerce Policy. If products still don't show, open your catalog in Commerce Manager and check its issues.
- ✅ Recheck after big catalog changes
- ✅ A category on every new product
- ✅ Return policy in place
- ✅ Check catalog issues in Commerce Manager
Doing this at scale
FeedFix checks every product against the Meta Catalog and Google rules: titles, descriptions, images, and missing brands or G T I Ns. It scores each product, and drafts fixes you review and apply in bulk. It doesn't control the sync. The Facebook and Instagram channel still does that. See FeedFix.
