You set up the Facebook and Instagram channel in Shopify, but in Commerce Manager the "Checking your shop info" step still says "Not completed," or Shopify tells you the account is "linked to a shop that's still in review or doesn't comply with our seller policies." Your shop isn't visible to shoppers yet. This guide explains what the review is, why it stalls and what you can do while you wait.
What "in review" means
Meta reviews your commerce account before your shop goes public. In its shop setup guide, Meta says "Not completed" on that step means your commerce account is in review, and that the review can take up to 4 weeks. When it finishes, the step changes to "Completed."
- Who reviews: Meta. Shopify says only Meta can approve you for the channel
- Status: Updated in Commerce Manager
- Contact: Meta emails you if there are actions you can take
Why a review stalls or fails
Meta checks your Page, your Instagram account and your website against its commerce eligibility requirements.
- Domain: Your Page must represent the website you sell from, and Meta may ask you to verify the domain
- Purchase on your site: Listings must be available for direct purchase from your website
- Trust: An authentic, established presence, which may include a sufficient follower base
- Location: A country Meta supports for shops
- Accuracy: No misleading pricing or availability, and an easy to find refund and return policy
- Policies: Your Page must follow Meta's Commercial Terms and Community Standards
Check where things stand
Look in both Meta and Shopify before you change anything.
- Commerce Manager: Open Set up your shop and check each task
- Email: Look for messages from Meta about your review
- Shopify admin: Open Sales channels, then Facebook & Instagram, and read any error
- Product status: Shopify's channel lists product sync errors in its Issues column
What to do while you wait
You can't speed up Meta's review, but you can make sure it doesn't fail on something fixable.
- Step 1: Confirm your online store isn't in private mode, which Shopify lists as a requirement
- Step 2: Check that every product links to a page on your own domain where it can be bought
- Step 3: Publish a clear refund and return policy
- Step 4: Make sure your Commerce Manager name matches your public business name, with no special characters
- Step 5: If the review is rejected, Shopify says to review and resolve account quality issues, then try again
Since September 2025, Meta says shops on Facebook and Instagram use website checkout, so shoppers finish buying in your Shopify checkout.
Avoid a second review
Products are reviewed too, even after your shop is approved. Meta says items that are pending or not approved likely go against its commerce policies, and you can request a second review if you think an item was rejected by mistake.
- ✅ Fix product data in Shopify, so the next sync carries it over
- ✅ Keep catalog prices and stock in line with your store
- ❌ Don't disconnect and reconnect the channel repeatedly while in review
If products are missing after approval, see Facebook and Instagram catalog not syncing.
Doing this at scale
FeedFix checks every product against Meta Catalog and Google Merchant Center rules and scores each one 0 to 100 per channel. It drafts compliant title and description rewrites you review as before and after diffs, applies them in bulk and logs every change. See FeedFix.
