How to Set Up a Wholesale Price List on Shopify

A wholesale price list is the single source for what each product costs a trade buyer, at each quantity. Build it once in a spreadsheet, then load it into Shopify so quotes and orders use the same numbers. This guide covers both steps.

Build the list in a spreadsheet first

Start outside Shopify. One row per variant keeps the list easy to check and easy to import later. Work out each price from your own unit cost, not from a discount you picked at random.

Choose how prices are set

In Shopify B2B, a catalog decides which products and prices your B2B customers can access. Shopify's catalog documentation describes two ways to set prices, and they can be combined.

MethodHow it behaves
Overall percentage adjustmentRaises or lowers every product price in the catalog by one percentage
Fixed pricesSet per product or variant, and override the overall adjustment

A percentage is quick to set up. Fixed prices take longer but let you protect margin on products where a flat discount does not work.

Add minimums and volume pricing

Catalogs can also hold quantity rules and volume pricing. Shopify applies both per variant, so a buyer cannot combine variants to reach a minimum or a price break.

Shopify says you can add these in the catalog or by importing a CSV, which is where your spreadsheet pays off.

Assign the list to buyers

To use Shopify B2B, you set up your wholesale customers as companies. How a catalog reaches them depends on your plan, so check your plan before you design your price levels.

Keep one version

A price list fails when there are two of them. Decide which copy is the master and update the other from it.

Doing this at scale

QuoteWeaver prices each line of a buyer's request against your B2B list, including volume breaks, MOQ and the next-break upsell. It builds the Shopify draft order and a drafted reply, and it never invents a SKU or price. See QuoteWeaver.
